PaddlePALS social kayaking trips are a great way to enjoy the popular sport of kayaking
with others. All equipment is provided - kayak, paddle, safety vest, bottled water
and a cookie to enjoy when you stop off for a break! PaddlePALS trips are recommended
for people with some previous paddling experience as the trips are un-guided. A trip
plan is provide at time of departure, then the group then sets out on a morning of
kayaking adventure! Then after your morning of kayaking, you may choose to head
down to one of the local Bundeena cafes for a cuppa and a chat with you new kayaking
friends!
Booking and payment is required in advance. Payment options are as follows: 1. Direct

Our very popular half day Learn to Kayak Course is a fantastic start into the sport

Are there any prerequisites for PaddlePALS kayaking trips?
We recommend that participants in PaddlePALS have had some previous kayaking experience
(or PaddleFIT Kayaking Sessions or our Learn to Kayak Course are great ways to get
started!) however all participants must be competent swimmers and reasonable fit.
What age people usually come along on PaddlePALS trips?
Most people who participate in our PaddlePALS trips range in age from 35 upwards,
however all ages are welcome! Can I just come along to one PaddlePALS trip or is PaddlePALS
for regulars only? It’s fine to come along on a one-off trip or as regularly as you
like! Will I be in a double or single kayak? What style of kayaks are used?
There is usually a choice of double and single kayaks. All kayaks are general purpose
sit on top style around 3 metres in length. Do guides come along on PaddlePALS kayaking
trips?
No - PaddlePALS trips are un-guided kayaking trips. It is the responsibility of the
group on the day to follow a plan for the trip. Basic kayaking instruction and trip
plan provided at departure point.
What is included in the price?
Price includes hire of kayak, paddle and safety vest, map of area (per group) and
a bottle of spring water and a cookie to snack on at morning tea
Can I use my own kayak? Yes - this is fine. Cost is $15 less than listed price.
What do I bring?
Hat, sunscreen, towel, change of clothes, swimming costumes, sunglasses, water bottle,
plastic bag or dry bag, spray/warm fleece jacket if rain or cold weather is predicted,
picnic lunch and rug
What should I wear?
T-shirt, long sleeve or Lycra top and shorts/bike pants, water-proof sandals or booties
I have never kayaked before. Is this a problem?
No - just as long as you can swim and in reasonably fit condition then kayaking shouldn’t
be a problem. You may also like to book into our Learn to Kayak Course where you
will learn basic kayaking techniques and kayaking safety.
What happens is the weather is bad? All kayaking activities are cancelled when the
wind strength is predicted to be greater than 25 knots. Kayaking activities go ahead
as normal on rainy days. In case of cancellation you will be given 1 year to rebook
a PaddlePALS trip. Please note that refunds are not given.
What happens if I need to post-pone by booking? Providing you give us 2 or more days
notice you can change your booking to another date. You have up to 1 year to re-book
What happens if I cancel my booking?
If you cancel 7 or more days before the event we will give you a full refund. No
refunds are given with less than 7 days notice.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes! All participants in any kayaking activities must be competent swimmers
Is there are minimum age requirement?
No - however we do ask that all participants can swim
How long does it take to get to Bundeena?
Just under 1 hours drive from the centre of Sydney
Enjoy some excellent coastal and bush walking trails, laze about or swim at one of
the 4 beautiful beaches (all on Bundeena’s doorstep), have a picnic, go fishing,
enjoy the cafe scene or visit the Bundeena RSL or Club Bundee.
Are there BBQ facilties in the Bonnie Vale picnic grounds?
Yes. Bonnie Vale is undergoing extensive renovation and when complete (in Oct 2007)
will have gas bbq facilities and picnic tables.
Where do I park my car? Do I need to pay the National Park entry fee?
You can either park you car in the Bonnie Vale picnic grounds car park (right next
to Bundeena Kayaks) or in the main street of Bundeena. If you choose to park inside
the picnic area you will need to pay the National Parks entry fee, if you park outside
the gates there is no need to purchase a park entry ticket.
When: Every Sunday Time: 10-12noon (please arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork.
Group should be on the water by 9.30 - so don’t be late!) Departs from: Bonnie Vale,
