Are there any prerequisites for PaddlePALS kayaking trips?

We recommend that participants in PaddlePALS have had some previous kayaking experience (or PaddleFIT Kayaking Sessions or our Learn to Kayak Course are great ways to get started!) however all participants must be competent swimmers and reasonable fit.

What age people usually come along on PaddlePALS trips?

Most people who participate in our PaddlePALS trips range in age from 35 upwards, however all ages are welcome!
Can I just come along to one PaddlePALS trip or is PaddlePALS for regulars only?
It’s fine to come along on a one-off trip or as regularly as you like!
Will I be in a double or single kayak? What style of kayaks are used?

There is usually a choice of double and single kayaks. All kayaks are general purpose sit on top style around 3 metres in length.
Do guides come along on PaddlePALS kayaking trips?

No - PaddlePALS trips are un-guided kayaking trips. It is the responsibility of the group on the day to follow a plan for the trip. Basic kayaking instruction and trip plan provided at departure point.

What is included in the price?

Price includes hire of kayak, paddle and safety vest, map of area (per group) and a bottle of spring water and a cookie to snack on at morning tea

Can I use my own kayak?
Yes - this is fine. Cost is $15 less than listed price.

What do I bring?

Hat, sunscreen, towel, change of clothes, swimming costumes, sunglasses, water bottle, plastic bag or dry bag, spray/warm fleece jacket if rain or cold weather is predicted, picnic lunch and rug

What should I wear?

T-shirt, long sleeve or Lycra top and shorts/bike pants, water-proof sandals or booties

I have never kayaked before. Is this a problem?

No - just as long as you can swim and in reasonably fit condition then kayaking shouldn’t be a problem. You may also like to book into our Learn to Kayak Course where you will learn basic kayaking techniques and kayaking safety.

What happens is the weather is bad?
All kayaking activities are cancelled when the wind strength is predicted to be greater than 25 knots. Kayaking activities go ahead as normal on rainy days. In case of cancellation you will be given 1 year to rebook a PaddlePALS trip. Please note that refunds are not given.

What happens if I need to post-pone by booking?
Providing you give us 2 or more days notice you can change your booking to another date. You have up to 1 year to re-book

What happens if I cancel my booking?

If you cancel 7 or more days before the event we will give you a full refund. No refunds are given with less than 7 days notice.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes! All participants in any kayaking activities must be competent swimmers

Is there are minimum age requirement?

No - however we do ask that all participants can swim

How long does it take to get to Bundeena?

Just under 1 hours drive from the centre of Sydney
