Bonnie Vale Picnic Grounds, Bundeena Off Sea Breeze Lane (second turn on the left
after you arrive in the township of Bundeena - the street after Woodfield Avenue)
Find us on the waterfront of the Bonnie Vale picnic ground in Bundeena - nestled
amongst the beach side shacks.
Bundeena is located in Sydney, Australia. It is one of the southern-most suburbs
of Sydney (a 45 minute drive from Sydney CBD), neighbouring the beautiful Royal National
Park.
If travelling by car, Bundeena is a 20 minute drive from Sutherland. Just turn off
the Princes Highway after the suburb of Kirrawee (at Farnell Avenue) and follow the
signs to Bundeena. This is a lovely trip through the Royal National Park and takes
about 20 minutes. If driving, upon entering the township of Bundeena, turn at the
second street on your left (Sea Breeze Lane). Please note that Bonnie Vale picnic
grounds are a part of the Royal National Park. If parking your car in this area you
will need to purchase a National Park Permit (approximately $11) from the National
Park Visitor Centre at Audley or from Bundeena Service Station. Alternatively you
can park your car in the main street of Bundeena and walk to the beach front.
By public
transport catch the train to Cronulla station then the ferry (Cronulla-Bundeena Ferry
Service) from here to Bundeena. The ferry leaves on the half-hour from Cronulla and
on the hour from Bundeena. The trip takes about 20 minutes and costs about $5.70
each way.We are located a 15 minute leisurely walk from the ferry wharf. You can
either walk through the township of Bundeena or along the beach and rock platform.
The Bonnie Vale picnic and camping grounds are a great base for a day out. Go for
a dip in the sheltered clear waters of Simpson’s Bay,make sand castles on the beach,
relax in the grassy picnic grounds or bring along your fishing gear and catch your
lunch! Then you can cook up a storm using the provided gas BBQ facilities.
Bundeena is situated on the southern shore of the Port Hacking Waterway in the south
of Sydney. The Port Hacking is an estuary fed by numerous small creeks, many originating
in the Royal National Park and ideally explored by kayak. The Port Hacking is credited
as being the least polluted waterway in Sydney and is home to some glorious stretches
of sandy swimming beaches, waterfront picnic areas and wildlife galore! A gem of the
waterway is most definitely the pristine waters of Cabbage Tree Basin and creek.
This area can only be reached on foot or aboard a kayak or small boat, so the area
is quiet and beautiful. This area is only reached on a high run in tide. Check with
